Safe Babywearing

Baby T - Worn Baby shirtAll over the news and the internet is the alarming news that babies have died in slings.  More specifically, babies have died from poor positioning in the poorly designed Infantino bag sling.  Long story short:  1)  The Infantino forces the baby into a chin-to-chest position, restricting air intake and potentially cutting off the airway entirely (dangerous for an unconscious adult and dangerous for a baby, whose neck muscles and asleep/awake control are both still not well-developed); and 2) the Infantino holds the baby away from the adult, restricting communication between adult and baby.

For thousands of years, mothers and other caregivers have been wearing their babies.  But just as we need to pay due care and attention to the way we feed, clean, and speak to our children, so too do we need to pay due care and attention to the way that we hold them.  Carrying them close to you so that your body and brain aids in regulating theirs is beneficial and important for proper development.  Touch stimulates dendrite formation in the brain.  The rhythms of your breathing helps to regulate theirs.  Your reaction to the stimulus of the outer world gives them the first clues to what that outer world is all about.  Babies really are “born to be worn.”  As long as they are worn safely.

Are you a revolutionary?

If you love DDR as much as we do, want to show off that you’re getting you’re shaking your booty, check out this great design.  Not only are you boogie-ing like Mao, but you can proclaim your status as a fly communista.

Great hit the floor design

Dance Dance Revolution has been a phenomenal game craze that dates back for over 12 years!  Yes, you know the ones… usually the machines are teaming with teens and tweens rhythmically stomping and twirling around like madmen.   As with many video game crazes, this series originated in Japan by Konami.    There have been slews of arcade and home clones of DDR, and while the crazy has died down somewhat in favour of music games like Rockband, it still remains popular.   If you haven’t tried it yet, give it a “whirl” and you’ll likely find youself stepping to the likes of BT, Paul Oakenfold, Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys, Rihanna, Kool & the Gang, or Britney Spears.

If you’d like to see this on a sticker, or button, let us know, and we’ll make sure to custom assemble one for ya!

Resistance Is Futile

THE BORG BLOCKS T-SHIRT

Have you ever had the experience of your mouth being possessed by your mom or dad?  Despite any vows that you would never say that one thing to your own children, there they are, your parents, inside you, jumping out when you least expect it.

According to respected author and parent-educator Judy Arnall, parenting is 70% modelling, 20% listening, and only 10% talking.  So when your young child eats with his hands, wipes her runny nose with a sleeve, hits his baby sister, or loses it in the shopping mall, take heart.  They will end up just like you, give or take a few experiences.
